European standards and classifications define the requirements protective clothing must meet to provide reliable protection in hazardous work environments. They specify the fundamental protective properties and intended areas of use.

Protection types (Type 1–6)

Protection types indicate against which hazards—and to what extent—chemical protective clothing provides protection. The lower the type number, the higher the level of protection.
